Seven reports on child protection in Catholic dioceses and religious orders have been published – dealing with more than 330 allegations of abuse against 146 priests and members of congregations.
/>

/> The National Board for Safeguarding Children in the Catholic Church records dating back to 1975 in the dioceses of Clonfert in Galway, Cork and Ross, Limerick and Kildare and Leighlin; as well as the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, the Dominicans and the Congregation of the Holy Spirit.

The Bishop of Clonfert meanwhile has explained that he didn’t understand paedophilia – thinking it was a “friendship that crossed a boundary line”

/> A 42 year old woman is due to appear in Court in Limerick this evening in connection with the death of an 8 year Anthony Ward in north Cork old boy in Charleville on Monday.
/>

/> The woman who was arrested in Cork yesterday evening will be brought before Limerick District Court this evening following the death of Anthony Ward.

Anthony was found dead in bed at the home he shared with his mother, Diane at Harrison Place in Charleville after Diane contacted a family member saying she needed help.

Anthony’s remains are currently lying in repose Hawe’s Funeral Home until 5pm when he will be removed to Holy Cross Church in Charleville with requiem mass taking place at 2.30pm tomorrow.
