Disgraced Toronto mayor Rob Ford has admitted using "every drug you can probably think of".

The Mayor was speaking to reporters from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and CP24, after spending two months at an addiction facility following revelations he had been caught on video smoking a crack pipe last year.

Ford also blamed substance abuse for his racist outbursts and confessed he had used cocaine, marijuana and 'magic' mushrooms, but not heroin.

"You name it, I've abused it" he said. "I'm taking it one day at a time. I did not drink yesterday, I haven't drunk today" he added.

Ford said he would not be resigning, adding he had been abusing drugs and alcohol for years and his job was not what drove him to abuse substances.

"I love my job and keeping busy is the best thing for me" he said.

"I was ruining my health. I couldn't function day to day. I was ruining my family and my job as mayor".

He refused to say how or from whom he obtained his drugs, adding "I'm not going to get into the criminal element". He also declined to talk about the police investigation into his drug use.

Ford returned to work last week and gave a statement claiming that rehab saved his life, but he did not take questions from journalists.

Reading from a statement he said "For a long time, I resisted the idea of getting help. Like a lot of people dealing with substance abuse, I was in complete denial. I had convinced myself that I did not have a problem, but it soon became obvious that my alcohol and drug use was having a serious, serious impact on my family, and on my health and on my job as mayor".

"But folks, this is a long, long road to recovery. No matter what I do, no matter what I do, I will never be able to change the mistakes that I have made in the past".

"My commitment to living clean is now unwavering. To the people of this great city, I want to offer a public apology".

Ford has already returned to the campaign trail and his brother Doug said the mayor loved the job and was fighting for his political life.
