Three boys driving a tractor were stopped by gardaí in Co Meath in the early hours of this morning.
Gardaí in the Roads Policing Unit in Trim stopped the John Deere tractor in the town at around 12.30am.
They found three boys in the vehicle, one 12-year-old who was driving and another two, aged 8 and 15, accompanying him in the cab.
They were brought to Trim garda station and their parents were contacted.
Gardaí revealed the news on the Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page.
In the post they said: “We know young farmers love driving tractors, but they have to wait until old enough to be properly licensed.”
The gardaí later clarified that they had seized the tractor and are liaising with the parents of the children involved.
They said that the matter remains under investigation.
