The Dublin City Manager says a review of how the city's ambulance service is run has been suspended.

Around 200 members of Dublin Fire Brigade and their supporters protested at City Hall over the Health Service Executive (HSE) plan to remove the service from them.

They were led by the Dublin Fire Brigade pipe band and personnel from stations all over the city. The group travelled along Dame Street towards City Hall.

AA Roadwatch warned that heavy traffic was to be expected on all approaches to Dame Street as a result.

Firefighters, who are also first responders and advanced paramedics wanted to stop the HSE from taking away the ambulance service.

And Patricia King from SIPTU has told hundreds gathered for the protest march that changes will only happen after a national review.
