The pressure on public transport this weekend will be "busier than during peak Christmas festivities” - here’s how to navigate through the city.

Over half a million people have flocked to Dublin this weekend for some of the biggest music and culture events of the year taking place.

Tonight, Taylor Swift will grace the Aviva Stadium with her second Eras Tour performance, while Croke Park plays host to two All-Ireland Senior Championship quarter-finals.

Fairview will also host the Saw Doctors tonight while Longitude is taking place in Marlay Park.

Meanwhile, pubs and bars around the city are holding Pride events following today’s parade.

Bolt spokesperson Aisling Dunne said the city will be like “the week before Christmas” in terms of business.

Despite this, Dublin Bus has confirmed that there would be no additional buses running across the weekend.

This will put more pressure on rail and taxi services this weekend – especially with the plethora of events tonight alone.

Ms Dunne told Newstalk the demand for taxis will be “exceedingly high”.

“We’re encouraging people, when booking a taxi on an app or trying to hail on the street, to move away from crowds to make it easier for drivers to pull in,” she said.

She said people should also wear “comfortable shoes” and “be prepared to walk for a bit”.

The Taxis for Ireland Coalition has called on the Government and National Transport Authority to “take immediate action to address the shortage of taxis”.

It has proposed a 30% increase in taxi vehicles by 2027 as a step towards alleviating the impact of driver and vehicle number decrease over the past decade.

Extra DART and commuter trains will also operate before and after all events.

Irish Rail has advised customers to plan their routes ahead of time – and to prepare plenty of delays.

It warned that most intercity services – including extra trains for this weekend specifically – and tickets will not be available to get at stations.

It also advised people to keep water with them at all times and “note alcohol is not permitted on board any services”.

People not attending one of the many events in Dublin this weekend have been asked to avoiding travelling during “event times”.

Bikes will not be permitted on board DART and Commuter services on these dates to maximise capacity.
