A school in England has banned triangular flapjacks after a pupil was injured by one.
A boy was apparently struck in the face during a food fight in the canteen at Castle View school in Canvey Island in Essex. Dinner staff have since been told to cut the treat into squares or rectangles.
The pupil reporedly suffered a sore eye and was sent home for the afternoon.
The Sun quotes a school source as saying "It's the most ludicrous thing I've heard. I thought it was a joke". "Even if you only have rectangular or square-shaped flapjacks, the children could still break them into triangles and launch them at someone. It's very silly. You';d have thought teachers would have more pressing concerns on their minds than the shape of snacks and puddings".
The school has yet to comment on the incident and the ban. But Essex County Council confirmed both the incident and the decision on behalf of the school.
