Tributes are being paid to 17-year-old Keeley McGivney who died in a tractor crash in County Cavan.
Keely died after the tractor she was travelling in crashed into a ditch on the L2514 at Loughduff at around 11pm on Tuesday night.
A teenage boy who was driving the tractor was uninjured.
Keely lived in Hanwell, London; however, she spent many weekends and holidays in County Cavan as was well-loved in the area.
Cavan TD Brendan Smith told Newstalk she was planning on spending the summer in the area.
“Keely was a regular visitor herself both at school holiday times and at other times of the year and she would have been well known to many people in the local community,” he said.
He said she was very popular in the local area and the community is ‘devastated’.
“Her family are very highly regarded; they are very well respected and I know that Keeley herself was very popular in the local area where she came regularly at weekends and on holidays and she had come for the summer months in County Cavan as well.”
Keely is survived by her mother Lily and brother Michael.
A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Joseph's Church Loughduff at 7pm this evening.
She will be buried in London at a later date.
