Tributes are pouring in for singer and actress Marianne Faithfull who has died at the age of 78.
She was known for the song ‘As Tears Go By’ - written by The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
Her acting career included starring in The Girl on a Motorcycle.
A statement said she "passed away peacefully in London” in “the company of her loving family".
Mick Jagger has called his former partner Marianne a "wonderful friend and a beautiful singer and great actress" following her death.

Julian Lennon, son of John Lennon, said he was “so very sad” to hear of Ms Faithfull’s passing.
“A uniquely special soul, she was one of a kind—someone who truly did stand out among her contemporaries,” he said.

Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich shared a tribute to the singer and actress from the band’s Instagram page.
“Thank you, Marianne… For the good times, for your kindness, for the great stories, for your fearlessness,” the post read.
“The biggest thank you and f*ck yeah for your incredible and unique contribution to our music, and for always being so willing to join us in performing it… and partake in the ensuing shenanigans.”

Blur guitarist Graham Coxon shared a tribute on his own social media, thanking the British legend for her impact on his life.
“You’re the only person that said the things I really needed to hear at a time when I really needed to hear them,” he said.
“You gave me the confidence/permission to ‘fly’ and to shake off self-consciousness/doubt – you told me I was beautiful when I felt ugly – 4eva in your debt.”
A slew of other musicians and actors also shared their sadness at Ms Faithfull’s passing.
The '60s 'It Girl' lived in Ireland for many years, between counties Waterford and Kildare.
In her 1994 biography, Ms Faithfull wrote that “Ireland is a sanctuary”.
“I don’t feel I have to watch myself all the time in Ireland," she wrote.
"I sometimes put my foot in it and say stupid things, but I don’t feel that bothered about being me.
"They’re very forgiving.”
