The childhood home of Offaly golfer Shane Lowry has been targeted by thieves.
It is the 2nd of two incidents in Clara, Co. Offaly which also saw the home of Laois-Offaly TD Barry Cowen raided.
Burglars entered the Lowry home in Kilcoursey between 8:30 and 10pm last night.
It is understood they made off with several trophies belonging to Shane including many he had won at Esker Hills Golf Club.
The raiders also stole his father’s replica of the 1982 Sam Maguire Cup.
Brendan Lowry was part of the famous team that stopped Kerry winning 5 in a row.
Awards given to golfer Alan Lowry were also stolen.
At the same time in Clara local TD Barry Cowen discovered that his family home had also been robbed.
A forensic examination of both scenes will be carried out.
Anyone with information on either of these incidents is asked to contact their local garda station.
