Donald Trump will not spend time in prison and has escaped a fine following his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush money case.
In May last year, the former and incoming President of the United States was convicted of falsifying business records during the 2016 election.
Porn star Stormy Daniels alleged that she and Trump had sex in 2006 and that his lawyers paid her $130,000 in exchange for her silence.
Trump has always marinated his innocence but a court in New York convicted him of 34 charges.
Appearing before the court today via videolink, Trump declared that the prosecution was politically motivated.
"It was done to damage my reputation so I would lose the election,” he said.
"This has been a political witch hunt. I am totally innocent. I did nothing wrong."
Judge Juan M Merchan had the option of jailing Trump for up to four-years but instead opted for an unconditional discharge which, under New York law, is a sentence imposed "without imprisonment, fine or probation supervision".
