Anthony Scaramucci has been removed as White House communications director only ten days after getting the job.
It is the latest development in a major shake-up of the Trump administration, which has also seen the resignation of press secretary Sean Spicer and the departure of chief of staff Reince Priebus.
In a statement, press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: "Anthony Scaramucci will be leaving his role as White House Communications Director.
"Mr Scaramucci felt it was best to give Chief of Staff John Kelly a clean slate and the ability to build his own team. We wish him all the best."
The latest development was first reported by the New York Times, with several US media outlets also independently reporting the news.
Mr Scaramucci - a Wall Street financier who has become widely known by the nickname 'The Mooch' during his brief tenure - drew controversy last week when he launched a foul-mouthed tirade against several of his colleagues while speaking to a New Yorker reporter.
He described Mr Priebus - who was still in his White House role at the time - as a "paranoid schizophrenic" and threatened to "eliminate everyone" in his communications team.
On the subject of Mr Trump's chief strategist, Mr Scaramucci said: "I'm not Steve Bannon, I'm not trying to suck my own c**k."
Frustration at Mr Scaramucci's appointment is believed to have been the reason behind Mr Spicer's resignation.
"No WH chaos!"
President Trump's new chief of staff - General John Kelly - was sworn in earlier today. The New York Times reports that Mr Scaramucci's removal comes following a request from Mr Kelly.
The US president claimed there is 'no chaos' at the White House despite the recent departures and arrivals:
Highest Stock Market EVER, best economic numbers in years, unemployment lowest in 17 years, wages raising, border secure, S.C.: No WH chaos!

Speaking to reports ahead of a Cabinet meeting earlier today, President Trump told reporters: "I think we've done very well. We've done very well. Lots of records.
"We're doing very well. We have a tremendous base. We have a tremendous group of support. The country is optimistic. And I think the General would just add to it."
