Former US President Donald Trump is promoting a line of sneakers for $399 (€370) a pair.
He appeared at footwear convention Sneaker Con in Philadelphia on Saturday, where he was met with boos and cheers as he introduced the footwear.
The sneakers are bright gold hi-tops emblazoned with a "T", American flag detailing on the back and a red and white sole.
They are being branded as 'Never Surrender High-Tops' on a new website which is also selling other Trump-branded products including shoes, aftershave and perfume.
The site says it is not connected to the Trump campaign, but Trump campaign officials have promoted the site in online posts.
The website states the new venture "is not political and has nothing to do with any political campaign".
It describes the sneakers as shoes "for the go-getters who don't know the word quit" and "true patriots".
Last week Mr Trump was fined $354.9m (€329.36m) after a civil fraud trial in New York.
Sneaker enthusiast Dave Humphries, who owns pairs in the triple digits, told Moncrieff the numbers of buyers are likely low.
"I'm not surprised that they've sold out," he said.
"There was a stipulation that people could buy up to three pairs, so technically we're only dealing with about 300-odd people that have terrible taste.
"It's collectible, it's a collector's item - some people might see that as, 'I have to have a pair' - they wouldn't be for me."
Mr Humphries said the shoes could have a big resale value.
"At this Sneaker Con event that he was at I think it was a very mixed reception," he said.
"I imagine the true sneaker heads of the world are not going to be losing an sleep if they didn't get their hands on a pair of these.
"There is a huge reselling market for these... they don't even want to have them - they want to get them so they can immediately sell them on for an inflated price."
'He needs the money'
Mr Humphries said Mr Trump will likely have more to sell shortly.
"He needs the money, let's face it, he could do with it," he said.
"He's going to do a whole line but you're going to want to have the gold ones.
"If you were a real, hardcore Donald Trump fan you've got to have the gold ones.
"I'm really curious to see what celebrity is going to be seen wearing these first," he added.
Mr Humphries also wondered whether Mr Trump was actually involved in the design process.
