The TUI is warning that many students will be denied access to further education in September, if Education Minister Ruari Quinn forces through the compulsory redundancies of over 400 teachers nationally.
Teachers are set to protest outside the Dail this evening over the plans.
The Teachers Union of Ireland, who have organised the protest, claim that the minister has abolished over ten per cent of teaching hours in the further education sector.
Assistant Principal at Whitehall College of Further Education Marie Humphries says the upshot will see many students locked out of access to further education in September.
The TUI were one of the unions opposed to Croke Park and threatened industrial action if the proposed cuts were passed.
The union passed a motion at their annual conference earlier this month saying they would not be bound by the cuts if the Irish Congress of Trade Unions voted in favour of the extension of the Croke Park agreement.
And delegates didn't hold back in showing how angry they were when Minister Quinn addressed the conference.
