Entertainer Adele King, better known as Twink, has been fined €1,000 having pleaded guilty to having no car insurance.
Eight charges were brought against the 62-year-old after she stopped gardai for directions at the M50, Ballymount on January 6th last year.
The other 7 charges, including failure to produce a driver's license and driving without reasonable consideration, were struck out. She has been given 5 months and 5 days to pay the fine.
Dublin District Court heard that she had transferred her insurance policy to another car and had forgotten to switch it back.
She thanked Judge John Coughlan when he said he would not disqualify her.
'I've never been as happy in my life'
Despite being a household name, the judge asked Adele King for her occupation and was told by her solicitor that she worked in the entertainment industry.
Talking to reporters outside court she said she was ready to begin the Birthday celebrations.
'I've never been as happy in my life. I thought what a way to start your birthday, it's bad enough being bloody 62, but in court...Happy Birthday Adele, just my luck, but it could have been much worse.'
The entertainer who turned 62 today described it as ' a stupid idiotic mistake'.
