A man and a woman have been arrested after cannabis was seized in Sligo. Gardai stopped and searched a car on the N4 in Ballymote last night.

Four kilos of the drug was found during the search at Castlebalwdin. It is believed to be worth about €80,000.

The man in his 30s and woman in her 20s are being questioned at Ballymote garda station. They can be held for up to seven days.

They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act.
