Two teenagers have been arrested after Irish man Shaun Brady was shot dead outside his restaurant in Kansas City in the US.
The 44-year-old chef was shot dead in the car park outside his Brady & Fox restaurant in the city in the early hours of this morning local time.
Police believe Mr Brady was taking out rubbish when he noticed a group of people breaking into a car. When he tried to stop them he was shot.
Mr Brady was taken to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Originally from Tipperary, Shaun Brady was well-known in the Irish community in Kansas and had appeared on television many times as a chef.
He was also one of the organisers of the city’s ‘Irish Fest’ event, which is due to take place this coming weekend.
Police told Newstalk that two male teenagers were taken into custody "within an hour of the incident occurring".
A vehicle used in the crime has also been recovered.
"The subjects were taken into custody and the vehicle was found a short distance away in Midtown," police said.
"Investigators will be working with prosecutors for them to determine applicable charges. The case remains ongoing," they added.
Detectives earlier said they were interviewing several witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage.
