Post office staff in Co. Meath were threatened with a knife during a raid this morning.
2 masked men demanded an undisclosed sum of money from the post office at Clonalvy at 9.40am but dropped the cash as they left the shop.
The raiders then tried to escape in a car which was parked outside but had some difficulty and eventually made their getaway on foot.
Arrests made
They then stole another car which they abandoned a short distance away.
The Garda helicopter was scrambled immediately after the raid and 2 men aged in their 20s were arrested.
They are now being questioned at Ashbourne garda station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardai say investigations are continuing.
