Two men have been arrested after a surveillance operation of one of the biggest garda stations in Dublin was uncovered.
Detectives at Harcourt Square in Dublin 2 became aware of suspicious activity in the area yesterday after officers spotted a person known to them at a nearby hotel.
The Special Detective Unit launched an immediate investigation after noting the presence of this unnamed person in the area of Harcourt Square garda station yesterday.
They inquiries revealed that this person had rented a room overlooking the station under a false name.
A search of the hotel room followed and equipment which is believed to have been used for surveillance was seized.
The Special Detective Unit later arrested 2 men on Grafton Street.
They are being held on suspicion of membership of an unlawful organisation and providing assistance to an unlawful organisation at Irishtown garda station.
Gardaí say their investigation is continuing.
