One woman along with a girl remain in garda custody this morning following a car chase in Co Longford.

Thw two are being questioned by gardaí in Longford in connection with the incident.

It happened in Longford town yesterday after gardaí attempted to stop a car on the N4.

The car was then pursued after it failed to stop.

Officers report that they lost sight of the vehicle, before the car in question crashed at Goshen Cross.

A woman aged in her 20s, and a girl, were arrested and taken to Longford garda station.

While a man in his 20s and a young boy were taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar.

It is thought that the vehicle used was a stolen car.
