Two people have been arrested after cocaine worth €7.2 million was seized at Rosslare Europort last week.
Revenue officers seized approximately 104kg of cocaine at the Wexford port on Thursday.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Revenue Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB).
Two men, in their 50s and 40s, were arrested and are currently being detained in Garda Stations in Wexford and Kerry, under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure was part of Revenue’s ongoing joint investigations involving organised crime groups and the importation, sale and supply of illegal drugs.
Yesterday, Gardaí seized €16 million worth of cannabis at Rosslare Europort.
They discovered 783kg of herbal cannabis and 70kg of cannabis resin when they stopped and searched an unaccompanied freight unit at Rosslare Europort.
The unit had disembarked a ferry from Bilbau in Spain.
No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.
