Two brothers remain in police custody in New Orleans this morning over the shooting of an Irish garda the city.
Last night, officers from the New Orleans Police Department arrested two brothers - Melvin and Keith Galle - in relation to the attack.
The victim, Brian Hanrahan, 30, a gard based in Limerick, was shot twice in a mugging in New Orelans on January 27. He was on holiday in the southern American city with his father and had been out socialising that night.
Mr Hanrahn was shot in the back and the leg. He was reported to be searching for a place to find a drink and had taken money from an ATM shortly before being approached by the mugger.
Following successful surgery, Hanrahan is now expected to make a full recovery.
