Gardaí have foiled an attempt to get drugs into Castlerea Prison in Co Roscommon.
Two people were arrested after the drugs were seized near the prison at around 11.00am on Thursday morning.
Gardaí stopped and searched a car at Harristown, which is adjacent to the prison.
During the course of the search two mobile phones, a smartwatch, approximately 440 tablets and cannabis herb were recovered together with a drone - which was in the process of being set up.
A man (46) and a woman (45) were arrested at the scene in connection with this investigation.
They are being held at Castlerea Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The governor of Castlerea Prison, Martin Reilly, said: "The prison works closely with An Garda Síochána and we welcome their intervention and continued support in assisting the prevention of contraband entering our facility".
