Two people have died and 28 are injured in a mass shooting in the US city of Baltimore.
Police received multiple calls about a shooting at a party just after 12.30am local time in the city's Brooklyn neighbourhood.
Reports say two adults – an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man – have died, while three others are currently in critical condition in hospital.
Some 28 people have reported injuries, according to Acting Police Commissioner Rick Worley.
Mr Worley confirmed no arrests have been made and police are investigating the “extensive” crime scene.
'Reckless, cowardly act'
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott said the “reckless, cowardly act” has permanently altered many lives.
“I want those who are responsible to hear me hear me very clearly - we will not stop until we find you, and we will find you,” he said.
“Until then, I hope with every single breath that you take, that you think about the lives that you took, and you think about the lives that you impacted here tonight.”
Mr Scott also said all resources available will be used to support those affected by the shooting.
“We are mobilising every resource in my power to embrace this community and support this community through this unspeakable tragedy,” he said.
Mass shootings
This is the 342nd recorded mass shooting in the US in 2023, putting this year on track to set the highest record of shootings in the country.
Mr Scott said today’s tragedy “did not have to happen”.
“It again highlights the impact and the need to deal with the over proliferation of illegal guns on our streets, and the ability for those who should not have them to get their hands on them,” he said.
