Two Gardaí have been treated in hospital following an assault on the northside of Cork city last night.

The two officers, based at Gurranabraher Garda Station, were responding to a domestic incident in Blarney Street at 8.15pm when they were attacked by a man in his 30s.

The Irish Examiner says officers from the Armed Regional Support Unit and Garda dog unit had to use pepper spray to subdue the man.
