Two Gardaí have been treated in hospital following an assault on the northside of Cork city last night.
The two officers, based at Gurranabraher Garda Station, were responding to a domestic incident in Blarney Street at 8.15pm when they were attacked by a man in his 30s.
The Irish Examiner says officers from the Armed Regional Support Unit and Garda dog unit had to use pepper spray to subdue the man.
One of the officers suffered head and neck injuries and the other suffered injuries to his hand.
A man, a foreign national, was arrested and taken to Gurranabraher Garda station.
He is due before Cork District Court this morning charged in connection with the incident.
