Two Irish-based business have been honoured by the World's Most Ethical Companies list.
Multinational consultancy giant Accenture was honoured in the Consultancy Services category, and investment group DCC plc in the Oil and Gas category.
The list, compiled by the Ethisphere Institute, recognised 132 companies in 21 countries for "embrac[ing] the correlation between ethical business practices, public trust and improved company performance."
"The World’s Most Ethical Companies is a distinction that honours superior achievement in transparency, integrity, ethics and compliance," a press statement reads.
Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program (35%), corporate citizenship and responsibility (20%), culture of ethics (20%), governance (15%) and leadership, innovation and reputation (10%).
DCC plc is an investments group and holding company. The firm own Emo (formerly Maxol) and are markets leaders in oil distribution in Sweden and Britain. The company became involved in a legal case with Fyffes relating to insider trading in 2000. The case was settled with a payment of €37.6 million to Fyffes in 2008.
