Two male pedestrians have died following separate collisions in Galway and Meath today.

And a female pedestrian remains in a serious condition following a collision in Cork earlier this morning.

In county Meath, a 77 year old male pedestrian, was fatally injured following a collision which happened on Main Street in Athboy at approximately 6.15pm.

The driver of the vehicle -who was the sole occupant, was uninjured.

The man was removed to Our Ladies Hospital in Navan where he was pronounced dead. A post mortem examination is to be carried out. The Main Street in Athboy remains closed to allow garda forensic investigators to examine the scene.

In county Galway, a 65 year old male pedestrian has died following a single vehicle accident in the townland of Tullychurch on the Galway to Carraroe road at around 6.20pm. The driver of the car was not injured.

 

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was taken to hospital where a post mortem will be carried out. Gardai at Salthill are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, in Cork earlier today a 52 year old female pedestrian is in a serious condition after she was struck by a vehicle which failed to stop. The incident happened at approximately 8.30am on Ballynoe Hill in Cobh.

Anyone who may have been on the road between 8am and 8.45am is asked to contact the Gardai in Cobh.
