Two men are in critical condition after being found with stab wounds at separate houses in a Limerick city neighbourhood.
Gardaí said the men were discovered at houses close by to each other in the early hours of this morning.
They have both been taken to University Hospital Limerick where they remain in critical condition.
Gardaí were first alerted at around 2:35am and found a man in his 20s with apparent stab wounds at a house on New Road in Thomondgate.
Following enquiries, they found a second man, aged in his 40s, at a house on nearby Cross Road.
Both homes have been sealed off and gardaí carry out forensic examinations.
Gardaí at Henry Street are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.
They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was in the New Road and Cross Road area of Thomondgate between 2am and 3am this morning to contact them.
The garda investigation is ongoing.
