Two motorcyclists have died in separate crashes in Westmeath and Cork.
Last night, a man in his 40s died after he was involved in a collision with a tractor at Gooseberryhill in Newmarket, Cork.
In the early hours of this morning, meanwhile, a man in his 20s died after crashing his motorbike on the Dublin Road near the Kilmartins Roundabout in Athlone, County Westmeath.
Gardai said no one else was injured in either crash.
Gooseberry Hill
The road at Gooseberryhill in Cork remains closed off this morning with local diversions in place.
Forensic collision examiners will conduct an investigation later on this morning.
Gardaí are urging any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly interested in talking to anyone who was travelling in the area between 7:45pm and 8:30pm last night and may have dash cam footage.
Kilmartins Roundabout
The Kilmartins Roundabout in Athlone also remains closed this morning with Forensic Collision Investigators due at the scene later today.
Junction 10 on the N6 is also closed and there are diversions via Junction 9.
Road users travelling between Athlone and Moate are advised to use the M6, as a portion of the R446 is also currently closed.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They are particularly interested in talking to drivers who were in the area between 2am and 2:30am and may have camera footage.
