Two nuns have been killed in a collision involving a police car in the North.

It happened just before 9:25am this morning on the Belfast Road in Newry.

The PSNI have confirmed that one of the vehicles involved was a police vehicle.

Three male police officers were in the car at the time, but none have sustained serious injuries.

The Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland has been informed and will lead the investigation.

The Belfast Road has been closed in both directions and diversions are in place.
