Two people have been killed in separate road incidents in Dublin and Cork.

A cyclist in her 20s died after she was hit by a truck in Dún Laoghaire at around 8am this morning.

It happened at at the junction of the Glenageary Road Upper, Mountown Road Lower and Kill Avenue.

The woman was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where she later passed away.

Gardaí have closed the road for a technical examination of the scene by Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are also in place.

In Cork a motorcyclist in his 40s died after he was struck by a truck shortly before 8am at Toureenfineen.

His body is being taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place.

The road remains closed and local diversions are currently in place.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are carrying out their examination of the scene.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to either collision to come forward.

Their deaths are the third and fourth, respectively, on Irish roads in less then 24 hours following earlier collisions in Cork and Donegal.
