/> At least 250 people have been killed, and more than 2,000 injured, after two strong earthquakes hit northwest Iran.

The quakes struck near the city of Tabriz, and came within 11 minutes of each other, measuring 6.2 and 6, respectively.

Emergency workers have worked through the night searching for survivors, but the effort has been hampered by the dark,  and numerous aftershocks.

It’s estimated at least 16,000 people are now homeless.
