Two schools evacuated after major gas leak in Dublin

Two Dublin schools have been evacuated after a major gas leak this morning.

Children and teachers at Scoil Áine Naofa and St Thomas’ JNS were evacuated after a gas main was struck near Esker Drive in Lucan.

Dublin Fire Brigade has said it is working with Gas Networks Ireland on the incident off the R120.

One fire engine remains at the scene.

Traffic restrictions are currently in place and motorists have been asked to avoid the area if possible.
