Two people are in a serious condition in hospital following an aggravated burglary at a house in Cork city overnight. It happened at Monastery Hill off Blarney Street.

At around 2:40am this morning 3 me armed with weapons burst into the house. They attacked all 4 people who were in the house at the time leaving two people in their 20s seriously injured.

They are currently being treated at Cork University Hospital.

The alarm was then raised and Gardaí managed to arrest 2 of the 3 intruders as they tried to escape through a window.

Gardaí at Gurranabraher are appealing for anyone who was in the Blarney Street area between 2 and 3am and who may have seen anything suspicious to contact them.
