Irishwoman Michaela McCollum has pleaded guilty to trying to smuggle cocaine out of Peru.

20 year old McCollum from County Tyrone and her Scottish friend Melissa Reid admitted attempting to fly to Spain with more than 11 kilos of the drug in their suitcases.

Both women had claimed they were kidnapped by a drugs gang and were forced to carry the drugs.

They face more than six years in jail.

They could be sentenced as early as next week.
