A dog in the US is ratcheting up the hits on YouTube after he had his back legs amputated.

Ducan the boxer is gaining international attention after his owners posted the video of him running on the beach for the first time.

Panda Paws Rescue were told they only had two choices - to put him down or amputate his deformed back legs.

So they went for the latter and he is said to be doing great. His owners say while he has a wheelchair, he does not like to use it.

Ducan is able to not only balance, but also run fast and play with the other dogs.

He was born with the deformed back legs, which were later removed to make him more comfortable.

The video has been viewed over 3 million times.
