Irish rock band U2 has announced a tour for the band’s Songs of Innocence album, released freely to Apple users earlier this year in what became an embarrassing PR stunt. The iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour will start in the US next year, provided front man Bono has recovered from an injury, and see the Irish band play in 19 cities around the US and Europe (see the tour dates below).

While Dublin is not listed as yet, U2 will play a number of special shows in their home city at the end of the tour.

Songs of Innocence was offered freely to iOS users when Apple unveiled the new version of the iPhone in September. While the move was poorly received by many, the album has been downloaded more than 30m times, and streamed a further 81m.

Tickets for the iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour will go on sale this Monday, December 8th. U2 fan club members will get priority access to the tickets tomorrow, and in the lead up to Monday on the band’s website.
