Movie’s like The King’s Speech and The Inbetweeners have helped UK box office takings top £1billion for the first time.

Figures from the British Film Institute show cinema receipts have risen by 61% in the past decade.

The final Harry Potter move was the highest grossing film at UK cinemas, followed by Colin Firth’s Oscar winner and the boys from the Channel 4 sitcom.
