A British man has been charged with the murders of a husband and wife who were found dead at their home in Fetcham, Surrey, earlier this week.
Surrey Police said Viktoras Bruzas (38) from Walton-on-Thames has been charged with two counts of murder.
Patrick and Gillian Kettyle, who were in their 50s, were found dead at their home in The Copse, a quiet street of detached houses, shortly after midnight on Thursday by a member of their family, believed to be one of their teenage children.
The full results of the post mortems as well as formal identification of the couple are expected next week but the initial cause of death has been established as stab wounds.
Detective Superintendent Nick May, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said they were killed in a "significant, violent and sustained" attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston, from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said after their murders: "This is a tragic incident which has shaken the close community in Fetcham."
Bruzas, a Lithuanian builder, is due to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates Court in Redhill later.
Another man in his 30s who was arrested on Thursday morning at a property in Walton-on-Thames on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder has now been released with no further action taken against him.
