In Britain Kate Middleton - the Duchess of Cambridge - is expecting a baby.

St James's Palace announced the news earlier today.

It is understood the 30-year-old was taken to hospital with acute morning sickness.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and members of both families are said to be delighted with the news.

British Prime Minister David Cameron has tweeted saying "They'll make wonderful parents".

In 2001 she enrolled at the University of St. Andrews in Fife where she first met Prince William.

She graduated in 2005 with a degree in History of Art. 

She continued with her interest in sport playing hockey for the University team. 

After completing her degree she worked for a company owned and run by her parents. 

She was married to Prince William on April April 29th last year at Westminster Abbey.
