In the UK the education secretary Michael Gove has apologised to his former French teacher for misbehaving in class 30 years ago.

In an open letter published in the Radio Times, he says he cringes competing to ask clever dick questions and being a pathetic show off.

He asks Mr Montgomery to accept his apology and it may be too late to say I’m sorry - thirty years too late.
