In the UK a 17-year-old has been arrested after malicious tweets were sent to Olympic diver Tom Daley.
Dorset Police say the teenager was held at a guesthouse in Weymouth.
The Team GB diver received the messages after failing to win a medal in the synchronised 10-metre platform diving yesterday.
Daley and his Team GB diving partner Pete Waterfield missed out on a London 2012 Olympic medal after finishing in 4th place.
After the event Daley tweeted: “#gutted so sorry everyone but we tried our best and we can’t afford to miss a dive at this standard… bring on individual!”
Shortly afterwards he hit out a Twitter user who accused him of letting down his father who died in 2011 from brain cancer.
Daley retweeted a message from @Rileyy_69 which said “You let your dad down I hope you know that”.
The tweet provoked a row on Twitter.
The user later apologised saying “I’m sorry mate I just wanted you to win cause its the olympics I’m just annoyed we didn’t win I’m sorry tom accept my apology”.
