The UN is to deliver much-needed aid to people besieged for years in the war-torn city of Homs in Syria.

The relief convoy follows the release yesterday of 83 women, children and the elderly from the city, after a deal between the UN and the Syrian government.

Many had survived more than 600 days under siege in the rebel-held city.

Peace talks on Syria are due to resume in Switzerland on Monday.
