The 22-year-old from Gweedore in County Donegal left her home in the German capital at around 11:40pm on Saturday night.

She was going to meet a friend on the other side of the city and got on a bus a short time later.

She spoke to her mother by phone while travelling on the bus and texted her friend at around 12:35am to say she would arrive soon.

She also texted her mother about 20 minutes later to say she was on her way to her friend's house.

Úna never arrived at the house and her phone was switched off.

Her family issued an alert to numerous media outlets on Sunday morning and are pleading with anyone who has any information to contact police in Berlin.

"Very concerned"

On Newstalk Breakfast this morning, Donegal Daily Editor Stephen Maguire said her family was very concerned for her safety.

“There has been no word from Úna since she went missing on Saturday night into Sunday morning,” he said.

“She has been living abroad for a number of years. She’s a 22-year-old woman; a very striking-looking woman.

“Posters have been put out on social media asking people to keep an eye for Úna abroad, especially Irish people living abroad, if they happen to see her, happen to know her.

“The family, at this stage, are very, very concerned about her safety.”
