You’ve gotta love Lucinda. Her big party (think a 21st in an aircraft hanger) is over a week away and the poor birthday girl is finding some of her RSVPs are coming back with hair appointments on the same day.

If reports are true, TDs Shane Ross and Stephen Donnelly along with Senators Feargal Quinn and Katherine Zappone have all been invited but have all found excuses not to attend.

Deciding whether to attend or not is their decision but Lucinda’s reaction is priceless. You would think that she would take it in her stride and be all leader-like and accept their excuses gracefully. Oh no not our Lucinda! Her response went along the lines of God, I supported them in that referendum thing, and now they won’t come to my party. Not fair. Not fair. Not fair. Lucinda, c’mon is that the level of political nous needed for a bold, new political party?

Things got even worse on Monday when Democracy Now’s Michael McDowell, who knows something about political parties, said this on lunchtime

Ouch! So Lucinda if a man of McDowell’s stature is dissing you, what’s going on?

Saturday week will be interesting. Lucinda hails from the leaf, liberal enclave of Dublin South East and yet it seems she is going after a more traditional, and often older, voter. An older voter who likes things like local hospitals and other things that may well go against Lucinda’s post-troika austerity-light economic world view. So are we gonna get any policies next Saturday week? God knows.

Let’s just hope the sandwiches are fresh.

Happy 21st... sorry, I mean good luck Lucinda.
