A meeting between SIPTU representatives and their members from Dublin Bus to discuss the latest cost-saving plans is taking place this morning.

The proposals hope to save around €12 million and were reached following three-days of strike action in Dublin last week.

Union members will meet in Liberty Hall in Dublin today to outline the proposals to drivers so they can decide whether or not to accept the deal.

There will also be a second meeting later today predominantly with drivers. It is hoped a ballot of members will be completed with a result by Friday.

However the union says one or two issues may spill over into early next week.

Last Thursday, Dublin Bus received the clarification document from the Labour Court on new proposals aimed at cutting costs.

Earlier, Transport minister Leo Varadkar and his junior colleague Alan Kelly thanked all of the parties involved in talks at the Labour Court that concluded at 5am Thursday morning.

A 3-day strike among workers ended last week after management and union representatives agreed to meet.

The Department of Transport has said "Bus transport is essential to the workforce, tourists and the people of Dublin and both ministers welcome the progress that is being achieved by all at Dublin Bus, despite the difficult change process."

SIPTU transport organsier Willie Noone outlines what will happen today.
