Met Éireann has advised that "very unsettled weather" is expected early next week.
Forecasters have issued a weather advisory for the country, saying it's likely more warnings for strong winds and heavy rain will be issued in the coming days.
They add that a combination of spring tides and gales may lead to coastal flooding at times.
The advisory is valid from Monday morning to midnight Thursday.
Monday is expected to be very windy, with Met Éireann saying it may also become stormy along the western coasts "with very strong and very gusty southerly winds".
Heavy rain is also expected to spread quickly across the country from the morning.
Meteorologist Cathal Nolan, from Ireland's Weather Channel, explained that the weather is set to get much worse over the coming days.
He observed: "We do expect to see multiple Atlantic storm systems - in the region of two to three - make their way close to or over the country.
"At times they will bring weather warnings - warnings for some very strong winds, and also the likelihood of some significant coastal flooding."
The advisory comes as a rainfall warning remains in effect for Connacht and Donegal until 3pm this afternoon.
A separate wind warning for a number of coastal counties was lifted earlier today.
Windy and weather overnight has led to some traffic issues in parts of the country, including a fallen tree on Dublin's Griffith Avenue.
