UPC is to establish a new European Competency Centre in Limerick, with the creation of 12 new IT jobs.
The Limerick centre aims to develop advanced new software and systems to support all of the processes involved in large scale customer service operations in Ireland, and other European countries.
The new positions include roles for IT Managers, Technical Support Leads and IT Designers.
370 people are currently employed at UPC's Limerick base and this latest announcement augments 30 new jobs announced for Limerick last week.
The Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan, joined UPC heads for the confirmation of the news earlier.
A full description of the jobs can be obtained on www.upc.ie under careers or by emailing jobs@upc.ie. Successful candidates will be located in UPC's national customer service centre in Limerick.
In February, UPC completed a €600,000 investment in its newly redeveloped National Customer Contact and Administration Centre, headquartered at Roxboro Road in Limerick Enterprise Development Park. UPC is one of Ireland’s leading multinational investment partners. To date, UPC has invested €500 million in its national fibre powered network and employs 800 people in Ireland. 400 staff are based in Limerick.
The new IT investment follows UPC’s announcement last week that it is offering 30 full time positions to candidates from the Jobseekers Support Programme operated by the CCMA Skillnet, where UPC is a programme participant.
