Land Rover has announced that they will show off the updated Range Rover Evoque at the 85th Motor Show in Geneva. The manufacturer has also informed the public that this is the most efficient production Land Rover ever.
Changes to the updated Evoque include a new front bumper, all-LED headlamps, three new alloy wheel designs, and two new grille designs (standard horizontal bar grille and a new fine-mesh grille). To add a sportier look to the car the air intakes have been enlarged. Five trim levels will be available; Pure, SE, HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography. The HSE Dynamic and Autobiography trim models will don bonnet vents which were previously fitted only to the coupé models.
Inside will be new seats, a new infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen, and some new soft-touch interior materials. Optional will be front massage seats with 14-way electric adjustment.
The biggest news is the introduction of the new aluminium Ingenium diesel engine. We’re told that this is 20-30kg lighter than its predecessor. It will be available with two power outputs, one offering 150hp with on-paper fuel economy of 4.2 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 109g/km. This engine offering is said to be 18% more fuel efficient than its previous diesel engine. The second power output offers 180hp and on-paper fuel economy of 4.8 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 125g/km.
Also on-offer will be a 240hp Si4 petrol engine which will offer 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 217km/h. On-paper fuel economy of this is said to be 7.8 l/100km, but of course, like all other fuel economy figures mentioned here - it’s all down to how they’re driven.
