The United States has evacuated its embassy in Libya, following clashes between rival militias in recent days and in close proximity to the embassy.
A spokesperson for the US State Department said the building in the capital, Tripoli, is in "very close" proximity to intense fighting.
“Regrettably, we had to take this step because the location of our embassy is in very close proximity to intense fighting and ongoing violence between armed Libyan factions,” Spokesperson Marie Tarf said in a statement.
Embassy staff have been moved to Tunisia.
