The trial of the Irish nanny Aisling McCarthy-Brady has been postponed until October at the request of her defence team.

The Irish Times says her lawyers argued for more time to obtain medical reports as there were delays in obtaining evidence from prosecutors.

Ms. McCarthy-Brady (35) is accused of killing toddler Rehma Sabir in Boston in January of last year.

The baby was hospitalised as a result of injuries on her first birthday and died two days later. Ms. McCarthy-Brady was due to go on trial in April.

The Cavan woman has pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.

The decision to postpone the trial was taken at a court hearing last Friday. A spokeswoman says the case would come before the court again on April 11th for a scheduling hearing.
